Here's a poem from a new book I'm working on. Hope you enjoy it :)
The Shopping List
My Mum had sent me shopping,
with a list of food to get.
I was glad to have a shopping list,
so I'd not forget.
Arriving at the corner store,
I soon found something nice.
A pack of chocolate ice creams,
on sale for half the price.
I also found potato chips
and a great big chocolate block.
The store had lots of doughnuts,
but soon were out of stock.
The popcorn looked appealing,
so I picked up twenty packs.
Then it was time to go back home
with all my tasty snacks.
Back at home I greeted Mum,
she yelled and shook her fist.
Nothing that I'd bought that day
was on the shopping list.

A
Fright in the Night and Other Rhymes is Matthew “Morbid” Hartley’s second collection of humorous

ghoulish ghosts, wicked witches, vile vampires and a host of other mischievous
monsters.
This delightfully
nightmarish collection features illustrations by Lori “Looney” Escobar.
You can purchase the book
through Amazon and all other good retailers.

Here's a poem from my
children's book, A Fright in the Night and Other Rhymes. Hope you enjoy it :)
The Clumsy Giant
I’m just a gentle giant,
but most would disagree.
Because when I’ve been
spotted
they all decide to flee.
They yell, ‘Here comes the
giant!’
and raise the town alarm.
They just don’t seem to
understand
I don’t mean them any
harm.
But people here are really
small,
I squash them without
knowing.
Mum says I should take
more care
and look out where I’m
going.
I told my Mum that I would
try,
but still she wore a frown.
As soon as I had said
those words
I’d knocked down half the
town.
